Here at TreeGen we realise investors are always looking for new markets, especially in the dynamic and innovate sector of biotech. We have decided to build on RiceTec's excellent experience of patenting developing world crops like Basmati rice by applying it to indigenous UK species. Some may say we have no right to profit from the serendipity of nature itself or from the hard work of UK farmers in creating adaptable trees and plants but it is clear that in this concern the markets provide the best guidelines for behaviour. It is important that consumers realise that we are actually protecting UK trees and plants as we are determined to invest all profits from patents granted back into developing organisms that can thrive in a drier and hotter climate. In every way TreeGen is looking forward.
